ABOUT SU SNODIN

Su Snodin-The Painter

She has painted since childhood and took classes at Maidstone School of Art while she was still at school. Later, after Central School of Art and Design, she went on to the University of Newcastle upon Tyne and graduated with a degree in Fine Art (Sculpture).

She has maintained her studio at Iliffe Yard since the late eighties. Iliffe Yard, plus Peacock and Clements Yards, makes up the enterprising creative hub of South London known as Pullens Yards where creative professional practices and thriving small businesses work side by side.

Painting/Structure/Colour

She works out structure and colour based on the real world but then stretched or concentrated to fit the demands of the painting as it develops. It is a slow process.

Su finds it much more possible to talk about her work when standing in front of it and enjoys other people's comments. Because anyone looking at a painting brings their own ideas, it is always a suprise and a pleasure when these get close to the painter's aims. If you would like to meet the painter (whether or not you want to talk about the paintings) please use the contact form.

Collections

She has exhibited in group and solo shows, national opens, art fairs and small London galleries. Her work is held in private and corporate collections worldwide.
